I have an early production (8804) 69 coup being restored for judging. The window decal indicates option PU9, F70 x 15 White Lettered Tires. The 69 guidebook by R. Bizzaco states "some time after the summer of 1969 raised white letter tires became available on Corvettes." Could the car have been ordered with PU9 tires but shipped with something else?? I want to buy the correct tire for the car. Information/suggestions needed, Thanks.

Re: 69 Tires
Lynn,
Your SN 8804 seems incomplete to determine when your car was produced.
My 26231 '69 Corvette build sheet has black leather interior and white letter tires marked out. Substitutions of STD interior and white stripe tires and marked and showed up on the window sticker. I believe, if it showed up on the window sticker, it came on the car if the dealer didn't inspire stuff.

Re: 69 Tires
Since NCRS doesn't judge the window sticker, you are best off going by the judging manual regarding the type of tires you show your car with. Unless you raise the issue with the judges, or unless Bizzaco's information is included in the judging manual (you will have to look that up, I don't have my TIM&JG where I now am), you can show the car with whatever style tires makes you happiest.
That is NCRS rules. I must point out there are other judging organizations which have different rules -- I don't wish to speak for them at this time on this site.Terry- Top
