The cable from my trans to the steering column does not completely push up the column lever into the unlock position. After I put it in reverse I am able to push it up with very little effort and then I am able to get the key out of the ignition (I took apart the steering column and replaced the lock cylinder twice before I figured out it was the locking mechanism). I know you can make a small adhjustment in the bracket. My question is what happens if the cable still does not push the lever up high enough so I can remove the key (I know you can just disconnect it or cut the cable but I don't want to do that). Any other suggestion. There seems to be alot of slop in the area where the cable connects to the trans--but I don't know how much movement is normal there. The cable looks good-no rust and slides easily. Thanks
