    67 Headlight Knob

The plastic chrome on my 67 headlight knob is flaking. Is there any way to "replate" this part or do I need to replace it? Are repros made of plastic like the originals? I read somewhere that repros are made of metal...if so I'll keep my original, even with the missing chrome. Thanks.

Nobody makes a 'correct' reproduction knob. All are 'improved' pot metal based. You can try and find a plater who will do chrome over plastic (specialty area).

But, it's easier to go out and get a correct original by stalking your local scrap yard. Same knob used in Chevy passenger cars....

Jack, can you tell me which of the knobs were originally plastic and are now made of metal? (Headlight, lighter.....what else?)

I know that there are people who advertise in Hemmings who do the plastic chroming and I'd rather save my old knobs unless there are good repro's available.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that the knob was also used on passenger cars.
