Looking to confirm the serial number on a am/fm radio ; if it is a 1972 radio or not. The service model # is 31BFP1. THE SERIAL # IS 1121388. Any help on this sure would be appreciated. If anyone has a serial ## range that I could use if this is not a 72 radio, that would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help. Mike C.

Re: 72 corvette radio
Mike-----
There should be a GM part number also to be found on a label attached to the radio chassis. This will be a 7 digit number which begins with a "7" or a "9". If you can find and report that number, I may be able to tell you more after I can get at my references this evening. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

There should also be a sticker with a "Product #", which is the part number. The model number (31BFP1) normally breaks down as follows:
First Digit - model year ('73 for yours)
Second Digit - Division ("1" for Chevrolet)
Third Digit - Body Type ("B" is for Impala/Caprice - Corvette was "Y")
4th & 5th Digit - Radio Type ("FP" - FM/AM pushbutton)
6th Digit - can't remember (?)- Top
