I am working on a 71 big block car with the wrong radio. I would like to find the correct one.

Paul,
I just saw an ad this morning in Corvette & Chevy Trader for Crane's Corvette. I believe they are a Corvette salvage company. I've seen their ads in many publications and on a lot of websites. I have never done business with them, but might be worth a look! A link to their website is shown below. They also have a toll free number...800-597-4132
Good luck!

These radios come up for sale on eBay all of the time. I've already purchased WAY more than I should of them, too [none are for sale, though]. Look for any 68-71 Corvette radio. The original part numbers, found on a paper tag affixed to the radio chassis, are 7302721 (standard) and 7303211 (stereo). Make sure that you get the under-dash mounted convector assembly (standard radio) or adapter assembly (stereo radio) if the unit is to be usable. Often times, eBay radios come without these. If you buy one of these, then you'll need to look for one seperately. It's much better to buy the whole package together.
The 72-76 radios will work in your car, too. The only problem is that the faceplate script and coloration is different AND the shaft length/configuration is different. So, with these radios you may need to use the 72-76 style knobs, which are considerably different than the 68 or 69-71 style. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Foggy....
my memory, that is. But, I remember one more differential in the P/N jungle to what Joe says. If car was A/C equipped one or more of the components also changed (stereo adaptor, convector) due to under-dash space limitations and the geometry of placement & wiring hook-up. Your '71 AIM will call out the different P/N's in the optional radio drawings at the back of the book. Check it out, because you don't want to shop, buy and wind up with the 'wrong' core components!- Top

To calibrate your expectations, I just purchased a 68-71 non-stereo radio, average condition, for $150 from a recycler. It came without knobs but included the external amplifier/heat sink thingy. They guaranteed it to work, which it does. The 72 to (I think 78) radios will work but have the wrong face and knobs.
