Re: 70 roadster
John,
Whatever you do, I'd contact Terry McManmon as no one else is as likely to know the answer as he would. I'm sure that he will have questions for you, in fact, especially if portions of the car are unrestored. Also, I'd be sure to contact Juliet Page's 1970 Registry. I think there's a link on her profile.
Wow. Number 4. Sounds like a silly question, but you're sure of the number?

Re: 70 roadster
I am pretty sure that the earliest car that we have seen is car # 12. It was shown at the Centeral New Jersey Regional meet in October. In what state are you located? How many miles are on the car and what are your plans for the car? There is a registry for 70's as stated previous if your interested in signing the car on, here's the site: www.1970corvetteregistry.org it's run by Juliet, you will see her post here from time to time.1967 L79 Sunfire Yellow Black Leather Convertible- Duntov

Re: 70 roadster
Hi John,
I saw your car at Bloomington Gold Silver Salute when the 1970 models were 25 years old. Maroon/tan leather as I remember. I knew the fellow who owned it then put it up for sale several years after that. As I remember he lived not too far from Springfield. Glad you came up with it.
October 22 of 1969 body build. In all likelihood a pilot line car. If you wish we can talk off-line about more of your numbers. I never did get the differential date from the previous owner. FWIW it is the earliest 1970 I have seen, and of course with only three cars that can beat your mark, it is likely to stand for a while.Terry- Top

Re: 70 roadster
First off, thanks for the e-mail. It sounds like you have a really neat car! I've never seen a pilot line car. It will be really cool to see what they did differently on that one than my #04102 car.
Second, there is no such thing as a car not worthy of judging!! I look back at the pictures of my 'beloved grunge monster' when I got a Second Flight a few years ago and cringe now. But you know what, despite all her warts and grunge nobody said a negative thing to me and I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome! Plus I learned a whole lot about the car, most importantly what NOT to screw up when I restored it. And there also were some neat original things the judges spotted on my car which aren't seen very often! - like original paper spring tags and body shim tape and wiper clips.
Anyways, I'd be most delighted to add your car specs to the registry! Send on the data - and photos too! ~Juliet
