Is there any differences between 65 and 67 convertible;e top frames ? I seem to recall reading that there were changes but can not find the source of this information. They appear identical but I fear I may be missing something.
All help is , as usual, greatly appreciated
jer
Hi Jer -- I think they're the same except for early '65s (VIN changeover unknown) [I wish original top owners would respond to clear this up]. '65 Tech Manual says " '63 thru early '65 # 1 top bow (the one above your nose) were 3/8" round section, instead of 5/16" rectangular section. This is the only "major" difference in the '63-'67 model years". Maybe a restorer of tops [Scully ?} could provide more.
Held a judging school in Denver a few years back. Used my '65 L78 and another locally owned 396 car that was unrestored side by side. Both were BB, convertible, with identical exterior/interior configurations. A neat treat!
Mine is built April 20th. The other was also a St. Louis car built about 200 units before. One had the round #3 top bow (the other car) and mine has an oblong top bow.... Kinda shows the two forms of frame construction were used at random to/though April of '65....
