Judging question

In my quest to find a correct non-power master cylinder for my 67, I have found a 5455509 with the part number and "DC" nice and clear.

However the upside down mold number and date code on the brake line side are both really fuzzy and cannot be read. Also I can't find any evidence of a date code on the machined area of the front brake line connection. Are these areas judged? Is there always a date code on the machined area? Thanks!

Often casting emboss letters/numbers were quite difficult to read. Depended upon unit-to-unit 'fill' characteristics of the cast. I wouldn't worry....

Many of the original MC's were un-stamped on the front brake line boss. Pull your copy of the current '67 JG and you'll see there's no mention of this as a judging item.... There's also a parenthetical note stating some observed original MC's lacked the broadcast code ID (DC or PG) on the front boss.

So, for a fully correct interpretation of how this MC should judge on your car, you'll have to get an opinion from the NTL for a truly official reply.

Nick,I have a December built 1967 with no power brakes.The DC is there but the stamping by the front brake line is not.The unit was very clean as the area around the line fitting has the circular grooves left by the machining process.This was not judged at the NJ Regional. Regards,Kieran #11373
