    Painted Cars and Quantities Painted

I justed ordered 10 new books today, from the corporate office,
    But, anyhow
I have a Black 68 conv. -- there were 700 or so painted this color
    I may be getting (tomorrow) -- a 71 Big Block green/tan coupe
    I have a 72 steel City Gray coupe --
    And a 01 yellow conv.

How many were produced in the 71-Brands Hatch Green

    72-Steel City Gray

    01-yellow conv
Just wondering, I know much of the 68 cars, Corvette Fever had a large Article on them years back, but what about the 71 and 72 cars...
    thanks,
The books will be in tomorrow...

            Robert,
For some unknown reason the edition ('53-'99) of the Corvette Black Book that I have does not list color code quantities for 1969, '70, '73 and '74. Hmmmm, that's puzzeling.

              Calculated Numbers for Painted Cars

In 1970 there were Laguna Gray and Cortez Silver. The Corvette Black book does not have colors for several years. A couple of years ago when I was doing the research for the Corvette Birthday Book, I prepared a chart of colors by the years 53 to 82. What I was doing was trying to see what the most popular color was for these years. It was just after the All Corvette Are Red Book came out, I want to see if most Corvettes were Red. Well with several blues, greens, silvers, reds, etc offered during any given year, I merged several into color catagories. When I came to the years without production figures, I used a percentage calculation of the colors from the previous and prior years to get a percentage. But I still had to merge or combine several colors. For 1970, i merger Cortez Silver and Laguna Gray into my color catagory of Silver. My percetage calculation for the combined colors was about 2,000 painted for 1970. This should give you an idea of the approximate number for these color and you can make whatever assumation as to how many of each were produced. Send me an email if you want me to email you a Excel spreadsheet of my color chart. My email address is savethewave@radicus.net

                  2002 Edition - Corvette Black Book. . .

Talked to Mike Antonick and he advises that the newest edition does NOT have the color quantities for the years in question ('69, '70, '73 & '74) but he will keep trying to obtain this information for the 2003 edition. No guarantees, though.
