    69 heater control vacuum switch

I have just pulled out the heater control unit off the shifter console. While checking the operation of the vacuum switches I found out that they seem to work but are loosing a little vacuum.

It looks like they can be taken apart by pulling off the little clip that holds the lever in place. Before I have them apart and can not put them together again:
Is this the way they can be serviced?

There were two pieces of rubber where all the hoses run into and which attaches them to the 2 switches. I believe to remember reading in a post long time ago that these rubber pieces are not available and it is necessary to connect the hoses directly to the nozzles of the switches. Can anybody confirm this?

Confirmed. It says so right in the official Corvette Chassis Service Manuals.

Right on the first pages of the chassis service manual I found that the hoses should be connected directly to the switch when they need to be replaced. Somehow I found nothing about servicing the vacuum switches. Can you give me another hint?

Just examined the vacuum switches more closely. Looks like they can not be opened without destroying the center rivet. So I guess I will accept the loss of vacuum in this place.

          Sir,

I should have clarified my answer. The manual says to discard the gang connector and connect the hoses directly. I have no experiece disassembling these switches. The can be found new - www.docrebuild.com/dr-r-web/8846366.html

PS Are they gonna yell at me for telling where you can still find this discontinued part NOS?

            Geoffrey------

I hope not. I was just about to tell Mark that I thought that Dr. Rebuild might just have some of these NOS discontinued vacuum switches. However, I didn't want to create a "run" on the supply. Fortunately (for me), I think that I purchased several of these from you quite some time ago so my needs for the next century, or so, are well taken care of. These switches are one of the items that will be found in the Dr. Rebuild catalog but VERY, VERY few other catalogs.

              Geoffrey,

thanks a lot for that hint. I already saw them when I was visiting the Doc Rebuild homepage. But they look very much different on the picture than those I have in my car (I have no AC). Can they be used in Non-AC cars when the unused nozzles are plugged?

Regrets - the 69-76 AC switch is a different GM part number than the 69-76 without AC one. Different ports are plugged on every year of the AC switch, so I know not all are used or are needed. However I do not know if they can be substituted one for the other Ac to non-AC.
