The judging manual provides the exterior indications of the 6 qt oil pan. I am having trouble finding info about the interior of the pan. Did the 63/64 L76 and L84 oil pans have a "trap door" and did they use a windage tray. Thanks much in advance.

Re: 63 L84 Oil Pan $ windage tray
The windage tray on '62-65 SHP and FI engines is flat rather than curved as the later windage trays were. Of course, the judges can't see inside your pan, so they can't tell whether the windage tray is there or not, nor can they tell if
the pan baffling and trap door are still there. All that can be judged is the exterior appearance of the pan, but any welding evidence of repairs or modifications to the interior baffling/trap door would likely be visible on the exterior and noticed by a sharp judge.

Steve-----
The original oil pan was GM #3820001 which was discontinued in 1976 and replaced by GM #359942. Both pans were identical except for the fact that the later pan had an increased radius diameter for the front oil pan seal. The original pan was designed to work with the pre-75 0.22" thick seal and the later pan was designed to be used with the 75+ 0.41" thick seal. The GM #359942 was discontinued about a year, or so, ago. No reproduction of this pan is currently available.
The original oil pan baffle used with this pan was GM #3769768. This is the flat-type baffle. I believe that this piece has also recently been discontinued. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
