    Parts interchange resources

I know this falls away from the usual corvette banter, but her goes.

I've got a friend who is desperate to find out if there are any late model chevy brake parts (power to be exact) that will readily bolt up to a 55 chevy belair front end,if any?

I figure with the depth of knowledge on this board someone has to know the answer.

My buddy appreciates the help, I appreciate the help.

    Chuck-----

I have no doubt that there are late model brake components that could be retrofitted to 55 Chevrolet passenger car. However, as far as just bolting right on, I very much doubt it. I expect that such a system could be ADAPTED providing that the right adapters were obtained.

One problem is that most modern passenger car brake systems are disc/drum, whereas the 55 Chevy is, of course, 4 wheel drum. If we're talking about conversion of the system to a disc/drum system as well as power, a significant number of components are involved. If we're talking about simply adding power boost, I would imagine that would be far simpler.

In any event, I think that the best source of information would come from Master Power Brakes. This company provides conversion kits for just about anything you could think of. You can "dial them up" on the web at www.mpbrakes.com

      Chuck,

Not sure if they can help, but you can try Stainless Steel Brake Corp. They make brake components for Street Rods and Customs, I'm sure they would have something for your application. http://www.ssbrakes.com
