A few months ago, there was a string of posts that strongly recommended a single car transporter, to be used moving a car over long distance. I've searched the archives for that string, but not with success. I need an honest, reliable, customer-oriented car transporter. Would anyone with experience with this sort of supplier please let me know your recommendations? Thanks in advance. Larry Maher, #10731

Re: Transporter Recommendation
Larry: I just had a car transported enclosed from CA to NC for a little over $1k in less than 3 days! The firm name is J.P Transport / Pro-Formance Motorsports at 1-888-748-4418. They move a lot of race cars cross-country. You can ask for "Hannah" if you are interested. Good Luck, Jeff B.- Top

Re: Transporter Recommendation
Larry,
I recently used Intercity lines to transport a 66 roadster from RI to TX for about $1,000. They delivered the car in perfect condition and on time. They also accommodated an additional 427 engine block (outside the car) that most others would not. The driver was available via cell phone and kept in touch along the way. I would highly recommend them. Joe- Top

Re: Transporter Recommendation
When I wanted to move my '56 from NY to MO. I got quotes from 6-8 carriers. $1100 to $1500 in an inclosed hauler. I then found out there was a local auto transporter here in Springfield, MO that moves cars nationwide in two car enclosed trailers or open three car trailers. New 1-ton Ford trucks with new fifth wheel trailers. I gave him the go ahead on a Sat. and the car was in my drive on Thurs. $800.00 in an enclosed trailer. Perfect move. Charley's Standard service (Charles Oberbeck)at 1-800-982-0832 or 417/865-8105. I doubt if he can deliver that fast all the time, as I caught him when he was delivering a car to NY and one to Chicago, so he had a rig available.- Top

Thanks all, for the info...
I appreciate that you shared your experiences and opinions. In 2 to 3 months, our '72 needs to move from Albany, NY to Richmond, VA (along with the rest of us, and the cat, too), and I don't want to make a poor vendor selection for this task. Thanks again, Larry.- Top
