    63 Idler Pulley

My 327/340 does not have an idler pulley. Should this engine have one and if so,
how is the belt routed ?

Use, I believe that it should have an idler pulley. Originally, this idler pulley assembly was of GM #3829191. I don't recall, at the moment, the belt routing, though.

Your engine should have a double pulley at the water pump and at the crank. The idler belt runs on the inner most grove around the water pump and the crank, looping around the idler pulley at the same time. Tension is adjusted by the idler pulley. Hope this helps! Dennis
