I have a 1111069 distributor, date code reads 6K4 ,should be october 4 1966 but the distributor part number (069)is for a`64-65 327/365 hp distributor. Was there a`66 327-365hp motor? Or possibly is this an "over the counter" deal? Thanks in advance HN.

There was no 1966 L-76 (365 hp/327). What you must have is a SERVICE distributor. These were manufactured and available for many years after the L-76 ceased to be.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: distributor date code ??
The 069 was the best calibrated OEM distributor Chevrolet ever made for the SB.
I gave 24 degrees of centrifugal advance, which was all in at 2350 engine revs, and the vacuum can gave 16 degrees at 8 inches Hg.
This is a perfect calibration for a SHP engine that only idles at 10-12 inches Hg., but I think the aggessive centrifugal advance would not make a SHP engine happy on today's pump gas octane ratings.
This distributor was phased into production during the '64 model year and carried through to the end of '65. A companion distributor with a pump drive and the same calibration was used on FI engines from mid '64 through '65.
I've always been curious as to approximately when the 069 showed up on '64 L-76 engines, but I don't have any data.
