What is the correct GM part number for the center grille. I have found numbers 331834 and 342277. Which one is correct, or is one for 73 and one for 74?

The 331834 is the correct part for most of '73. Very possible that 342277 is the part number for very late '73 and all of '74. I don't have an AIM for '74.
Physical appearance will be the real clue, the '73 grill has chrome on the leading edges only, the '74 grill is all black. -

GM #342277 is the part number for the 74 center grille. However, as Mike mentioned, the 73 and 74 grilles are the same except for the chroming of the leading edge. In fact, many SERVICE grilles of the 74 variety will be found chromed under the black paint.
As far as casting numbers on the parts themselves, the 74 grilles will be the same as 73. You cannot identify a 73 or 74 grille from the numbers cast on the part.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment
