    63 Fiberglas Rear Spring

I'm installing the original differential in the car and I'm at the point now
where I will be installing the rear spring. The car came with a TRW fiberglass
spring, and I was wondering if there were any differences (in installation) between an original, and the fiberglass? Thanks for any help.

The fiberglass spring must be shielded from the heat of the exhaust. Heat shields should have come with the spring and hopefully are installed on the car already.

Ed, The spring link bolt was 1&1/2" up from the bottom of the link bolt (where the cotter pin hole is) when I removed the spring. Do you think that was right? I can't trust how anything in this car was put together by the previous owner. Thanks

John, A lot of the springs are supplied with longer-than-stock bolts so you can adjust the ride height. It sounds sort of like that is what you might have. Does the car sit level? I have never installed a fiberglass spring, but when I have replaced a metal spring I was sold some longer bolts to keep the rear of the car from being too high. As it turned out, I couldn't get the rear highe enough with the longer bolts and ended up putting the originals back in.
