    65 Carpet Installation

A few weeks ago I participated in a thread on carpet installation but now that I have started the project I have a few more questions. The ceramic cloth heat barrier I purchased really doesn't fit that well, and needs some t*******. I know it should not be overlapped, but should I be concerned with areas that are not covered at all? Should this stuff really fit tightly with butted joints to be effective? Next the original style rubber backed padding that I purchased leaves uncovered spaces in several areas that range up to an inch in width, should these areas be filled with plain padding? An example is the rear compartment floors inboard of the fender wells I have about an inch on each side. BTW it appears the rubber side faces up, is that correct? There is no rubber backed underlayment for the fender wells, should I cover these areas with padding? Lots of questions, but I want to do it right, so I thank you anyone who can help in advance for your assistance.

    Question for Jack Humphrey

    Jack,

I posted this on Sunday and have not received any response. Your answers to some of my other stupid questions have been very helpfull, so let me ask you directly. Can you respond to these questions, or direct me to someone who can. I have read the AIM, and most recently the Tech & Judging guide and still don't have the confidence that I have all the information needed to put this carpet project together correctly. The tech and judging guide does talk about slicing the carpet to create flaps to go over the mounting bolts and that part really scares me. Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you,

    George
