What gearlube do you use after re-bldg gear box?

I just rebuilt my steering gear box, with the help of Feb issue of Corvette Fever. I understand that one should use a GM only gear lube in lieu of standard 80-90? Joe L., if you read this I believe you have an opinion on this?

BTW, if you have or have not tried to rebuild your C2/C3 gear box, or are contemplating doing it yourself, it is one of the easiest thing I have tackled. Granted, I have the body off the car, but getting inside and disecting is easy. I followed step by step in the article...it was easy!

It used to be 1052084, which was a 14.5 oz. plastic tube of grease, and the instruction said to inject all of it into the gear housing.

Unfortuately this has been discontinued and replaced by 12377985, which is a cartridge of chassis grease, so you'll have to figure out how to insert it and get the correct amount in.

At the next Bayou meeting, bring a list of the parts you needed to do your box. Thad
