What shade of black is the master cylinder? The NCRS Judging Manual does not seem to address this issue. Thanks, Patrick #33001

It's a "semi-flat" black. I'd describe that as being just a little flatter than what we think of as "semi-gloss" black. I believe that the castings were painted before machining so that the machined surfaces are un-painted.
By the way, for 1967, all master cylinders, except those used for J-56 HD power brakes, were the same. The painting scheme, though, was the same for ALL.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Yes, that will do. However, keep in mind that glycol-based brake fluid (DOT-3 and DOT-4) will quickly destroy most paints which they contact. If you use silicone-based DOT-5, there is no problem (although the silicone fluid will make semi-flat paint appear glossy if it gets on it).In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
