Does any one have a good feel for what tire's and wheels I should put on my 66 driver. Now I have 8" ralleys with 215-70 on them. The tires are to close for comfort to my rear wheel wells due to the wrong off set. I am thinking of putting 67 ralley's 6" on. This will help with the off set problem. I want as much tire as I can get but don't want any clearance problems. Does anyone have first hand knowledge as to a good combination. Thanks

Re: 1966 tire size
Many have reported that '67 Rallys or KOs with 215/70s will fit with enough margin to let you sleep at night. They are both six inches wide which is adequate for this size. Optimum width for this size would be 6.5 to seven inches. Eight inchers are a bit on the wide side.
The 215/70 is the correct size to use as most are speced right at 775 revs per mile - identical to the OEM 7.75-15s. "All season high performance" versions of the 215/70R-15 are available with speed ratings up to "Z", so they are about the best performing tires that will fit a mid-year. There are no longer any "summer high performance" tires available in this size that I am aware of.
