Anyone give me some details on the late year 64 hardtop notch?

Re: 64 Hardtop notch
I "think" I'm right about this. 63's and early 64's used a different door, the one with the raised pad under the door handle. Somewhere in 64, they switched to the "flat" door without pads. I think that the "pad" doors are higher in the back, SO....all 63's and early 64's with the pad doors used the hardtop WITH the notch to clear the door. After the door change, the "flat", non notched hardtop was used. I'm sure there was some overlap at the change point. Others with more knowledge hopefully will offer their input. Steve:
Agree with Chuck. I was trying to get the same information (see thread "Blow Yer Top"), and learned that the early midyears had the clearance notch. I suppose someone with a 1964 AIM might be able to find the amendment and date.

Re: 64 Hardtop notch
Chuck is right on...the notch applies to early production, my 64 vin 3800 has raised pads on door handles and had a notched hardtop. By the way...it is very easy to convert a nonnotched top to a notched one!Dino Lanno- Top
