    1963 Horn Rebuilding

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1963 horns. After drilling out the rivets, I opened the horn and found the diaphram rusted and intend to replace it. The question is, is how do I remove the center piece from the diaphram. Does is screw apart?

    Gerald:

I believe the center piece (magnet) is part of the diaphragm, and there is no need to remove it as it is a complete assembly. Tha entire unit will be replaced as one piece when you order a new diaphragm.

Buy the ZIP products rebuild kit and they will sell you the parts you need to do this. I think the center part you are talking about is the one with the electrical connections on it, right? If my memory serves me right this is riveted in. I drilled them out, put all the new stuff in, including new diaphrams from a salvage yard donor, and re-riveted the parts back together.
