    78 HD Sway Bar Bushings

I have a 78 HD swaybar. I beleive it is 1 1/8". I ordered new bushings and brackets from GM and they supplied the following parts: 3913863 Brackets and 351595 Bushings. The bushings are about 1" taller than the backets. The brackets are about 1/2" wider than the bushings. I know from previous postings that the bushings must be compressed to fill out the brackets, but looking at the parts, this seems excessive. Do I have the correct bushings and brackets and if so what is the procudure to compress the bushings. I should have compared the new parts to the old, but I tossed the old parts. Guess I learned my lesson.

You have the correct parts. In fact, not only are they the correct SERVICE parts, they're the exact same parts used in PRODUCTION for the FE-7 front bar from 1975-82. If the folks at St. Louis (and Bowling Green) could make them work, I expect that you'll be able to, also.
