I would like to find out if the shim marks for an April of 72 coup should be green or white ?

You dont mention what shims in particular you need the color.

If you mean the number of body/frame shims written at each location, I believe that they are written numbers, not slash marks, in white lumber crayon.They change-over from slash marks to numbers was sometime in 1969. Midyear cars slash marks were green.
