Engine painting

I have a 65 375HP motor that I'm putting back together. I have a painting question. It's a very late car, the motor was assembled around July 1st,65. My question is ,was the fuel pump installed before the block was painted? On FI cars was the intake on before painting? Finaly were FI intakes painted aluminum like the other aluminum intakes? Jerry, from what I know about 65's the fuel pump was not on the engine when painted but the intake was (masked) and was painted with alum. paint.

I continue to question this business about '65 aluminum intake manifolds (either carb or F.I.) being painted silver; I had two '65 L-76's in the late 60's, both unmolested, and neither one had any silver paint on the intake of any kind - just natural as-cast aluminum.

I don't think my intake had paint on it either but it was hard to tell. Appreciate your insites. Jerry

I agree I think the silver paint was only used as a touch up when the intake had to much orange overspray .
