    67 Battery Search

Hi all. Just determined my batter is history, good charge but leaking. Just finished reworking the frame and battery tray etc. Need a battery quickly. Searched the posts for a possible source and found none? Will look more. Also discussions on R-59 vs. Y-59 and what judges are looking for? Help!
Source for a battery that will work, car sits as most but is in Cal. Warm weather and drive the car 1/week when nice.
What will NCRS not kill me for having? What to look for? Thanks for your help. Now off to the CD and searching posts again.

    Joel -

The repro batteries don't have a sterling reputation for longevity, as you may be aware - they're old-tech inside. The Standard Deduction guidelines in the Judging Reference Manual indicate that a current Delco replacement with correct terminal configuration will cost 50% of originality points (30 originality points assigned to the battery on a '57, so I lost 15 on my current Delco replacement) - you'd still get the 20 condition points assuming it's in good shape. Otherwise, you spend $150 to get the other 15 points.

      Re: 67 Battery Search, Thanks

John, thanks for your advice. I found some other posts from you and
others in the archives on batteries and battery savers. I will look at
the budget and make the call today. You are right, Seems about
$135-$145 plus shipping plus $8 or so for acid and then charging the
first time. I my go for it, 15 points at this stage might make the
difference. After we make top flight and I have more points to spare
then the next replacement will be a different case. Again, thanks for
your response and all the others I enjoy reading. I am off back to the
      garage.

Joel: You may have found this site already, but you can get an R59 Delco from www.turbostart.com. They have pics on the web site. I just got one for $118 plus $19 shipping. Then you need local acid. Jim Hansen.
