LT-1 Stripes - Correct Stencil and Paint

I have a 1970 LT-1 Roadster. It is VIN number 8008 and was built first week of April 1970. I have two questions.

Which stencil kit do I buy for the stripes? Corvette Central offers 70 Early kit or 70L-72 kit.

Which would be correct for my car or do you have a better suggestion on how to paint the stripes. Car is painted and ready for the striping.

Can anyone tell me the correct paint number for the stripes? Ditzler or other paint manufacturer so I can cross reference?

    Thanks,

    Steve

My info suggests going with the early four piece stencil and silver decals outlined in black. What I show is that they changed about in mid May.

you may also want to verify that most, if not all, 1970 model LT-1s had painted stripes on the hood, with later year cars ( '71, '72 ) receiving the decal pin stripe ?? Not quite sure, but I'm sure it's detailed / referenced in the AIM... Have you signed-up on the LT-1 registry?? Good Luck, Jeff Burkey

Steve, I have an original paint 70 LT-1 VIN #14803. It has the unequal width stripes. I can provide more information if you need it.

According to the 70-72 JM, 70 LT1's are made with a four piece mask and contained two different size stripes through sn 15889. The later 70's and the 71-72's were made with a three piece mask and contained equal hood stripes. All were painted and none were decals.

Steve, Get the early set with the thicker stripe. I removed my hood when applying the mask, made it much easier. Sprayed the black stripe with a spray can. Remove the mask before the paint sets up.

I forgot to mention that my 70 was painted with a 3 piece mask. It has the rounded front point.

I guess I'm off to a bad start today. Correction.....The 70 was painted w/ a four piece mask thus having a sharp point at the front. As mentioned it has the unequal stripes. I have a 71 #16798 which was painted w/ the 3 piece mask and the rounded point at the front. The 71 has the equal hood stripes. Sorry for the confusion
