I have a 57 VIN with numerous pieces from 56 as well. The numbers on my leaf springs are 3711550 and 86E6. Does anyone know if these are correct? Are they the heavy duty leafs, and if so, what would they sell for? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 56-57 Leaf Springs
Steve,
The stamped number is probably 3711650. The 86 means the 86th day of manufacture, the E stands for Eaton (who made the springs) and the 6 is for year 1956. For a street driven '57 I see no benefits to the heavy duty springs. Regards,- Top

Steve-----
As far as I know, the GM #3711550 rear spring was used on both 56 and 57 models. This is a 4 leaf spring and was used with the "standard" suspension, not the HD. I think that the HD spring was GM #3748143 and was of 5 leaves. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 56-57 Leaf Springs
You have a PRODUCTION set of original four leaf standard springs (550) made in 1956. In later production (1956-57) the number changed to 438 (last three digits) and continued until the end of C1 production. The five leaf springs were 143. Also there was a service replacement five leaf spring with the same part number but a different configuration.
Your stock springs probably have an extra leaf added for improved strength.
