R700 install on a 73

Hello All,
would anyone know if an R700 tranny could be installed into a 73 big block and if so are there any mods that would be required??

Dave,

I'm not sure about he 700R to big block mating, but if that is possible, then the tranny can be installed with some other modifications. I've looked into this for my 72 SB car. The transmission cross member needs to be cut and re-welded to accomodate. There is a shop here where I live (Colorado Springs, CO called Corvette Center) that has performed many of these swaps. They charge about $800.00 for the labor, so I'm guessing it's labor intensive.

In a recent issue of Chevy High Performance was an article on installing the 700 and 200 overdrive transmissions. The article also gave the measurements of the 350, 400, 700, and 200 transmissions which is helpful. The article also referenced the company that Don Shirey referenced in his comment.
