If I am reading Noland Adams Vol II correctly the lowest recorded was S100046 was for a pre-production prototype. The next listed number is S113808. The auctioned car carried S101797. What do you think typo or extremeley rare 396?
Yea, I also heard through a reputable source, one who specializes in Purchasing for a major Corvette group that this was a totally bogus car that brought stupid money...???!!!
It has been documented for some time that the 396 was introduced somewhere around mid production, perhaps as they started to phase out the fuel injected cars.(although I heard they were available untill the end of production) There is a sucker born every minute and two to take him!!! He should have joined NCRS!!!!
My 1965 Corvette Coupe #194375S112864 was the "First" regular production 396 big block Corvette produced(built on March 19,1965). It was special ordered for race car driver Cliff Gottlob in October 1964 with the help of Ralph Miller and Vince Piggins of Chevrolet.
