I'm re-assembling my tachometer lens and bezel. I cannot remember if the lens curves out towards the driver (convex)or curves in concave. I know its a dumb question but I need answer this weekend so I can re-install the cluster. Thanks.

Concave?!?! What about a '58?
I already reassembled all the gauges for my '58, but if there's good reason for the tach lens to be in the concave position, now's the time to change it. Why would it be concave? Convex seems more obvious, but I can't think of reason for that either!
I assume the small gauges (temp, fuel, etc) have lenses in the convex position because the chrome faces behind the lenses are in the convex position.- Top

Re: Concave?!?! What about a '58?
Hmmm, now you see why this car still isn't finished! And the bad part is that I'll spend more time DECIDING if I should reverse the lens than I'll spend actually reversing it!- Top

Re: Concave?!?! What about a '58?
Noland's book (p. 250) says '53-'58 instrument lenses are convex, and '59-'62 are all concave.- Top

Then I'm leaving it alone!
Thanks Ed and John. Sure enough, Noland says (in his book) the '58 tach lens was convex, so I'm gonna quit my frettin' on this topic!- Top
