1953 thru 1982 Corvette parts book

Where can I get a copy of the "1953 thru 1982 Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalog"?

    Rick------

This publication ceased to be available from GM many years ago. However, used copies are around. Used automotive book dealers are one source. Another is eBay. I see this "pop up" all the time on eBay. Sometimes, they sell for ridiculous prices, though.

Keep in mind, too, that while this catalog is a useful reference, the last printing of it was December, 1983. The vast majority of the parts shown in it are discontinued or superceded by now. Also, the part numbers shown in it are not necessarily the ORIGINAL part numbers used on the cars, especially mid 70s and older cars.

A reprint of this manual has been done. You may want to try Motorbooks, Osceola, Wisconsin.

There are also reprints of the 1957 Chevy/Corvette parts books available for various book dealers, check Hemmings Motor News. If you are looking for "orginal" parts numbers, recommend obtaining a parts book for the particular year Corvette you are interested in.

Yeah, but Joe, in the mid-70s, before the AIM, before Noland Adams, this book was the ultimate. The only way to get one was to ****le an old one off of a Chevy dealer when the new ones came out. This was the bees knees then. In 1974, I actually read it cover to cover, and ordered just about anything in there for a 1962.

They crop up on EBAY frequently. Had a MINT, extra one about a year ago. Looked never used...too nice to get greasy fingerprints on it. Sold it on EBAY for over $100.00, and kept my "greasy original". Chuck

              Chuck,

I've got a nice one like that. It came in the original hard binder and in the original (?) box.

$20 eBay. Ya gotta love it. Another went for $35 in worse shape at the same time.

I got one off of Ebay for $35 that was in practically new condition (cover is dirty from sitting in the guy's garage). They are on ebay all the time. You shouldn't have to pay too much unless you want one now and jump on the first one. It is really funny on ebay sometimes on those books. Sometimes people jump in and the price skyrockets and sometimes there is little interest. The one I got had no bids and I emailed the guy after the bidding ended.
