    Help Me Restor a 67' 427

    I have to Restor a 1967 427 with 41,000ml.
The looks bad but we have most all the original parts for
it. My dad got it new back in 67' and let it go to ****...
I work on my cars all the time but this car is overwhelming too me ,and
I do not how or where to start. I live Bethlehem PA and would like to join a
vette club. So someone has some info on a club or good how to books that I should read please let me know.

    Thank You
    Larry..

We'll help, but in the end it's your project and you're the boss. Soooo, here's the best starting advice I can give you.

    (1) Do NOTHING.
    (2) Join the club (main web site).
    (3) Build a library and read it!!!!
    (4) Restore means a lot of different things to different people. Spend time wrestling with what the word means to you (build a museum piece that's undisputable, build a 'nice' looking car that's reliable and fun to own/drive; how to do it--on a budget, over time, all at once, Etc).

In the library end of things, all these books are available in the Cincinnati merchandise center ('store'--this web site) AND you can join the club there as well. Here's a starting list:

    (1) '67 AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual)--how did GM put it together in the first place?

    (2) NCRS '67 TIM & JG (Judging Guide)--what are those 'numbers,' what do judges look for, and what's rare/hard to find?

    (3) NCRS Judging Reference Manual--what are the awards, how do things work and catagories of award things you can do with your car when your 'restoration' is done?

    (4) Noland Adams, Complete Corvette Restoration, Vol 2; in depth discussion of '63-67 Corvette with LOTS of detail....

Bottom line, NCRS is a club and we're here to help each other with EXACTLY what you're trying to do!

With only 41K miles the mechanical systems are likely in pretty good shape.

You didn't mention if it was kept inside or outside. If it was stored inside it might just need a repaint and some refurbishment and heavy detailing on the interior.

If it spent a lot of years outside in the weather it's a whole other ballgame.
