Is there a 'right' way to lift a corvette with a floor jack? I have an 80 and I am unsure of the best points at which to jack it up to get underneath. I have heard stories of windows and T tops shattering from body twist. Any advice would be helpful.
Eric, there's a cross member at the center of the frame on each side of your 80 ending at the outside frame rail. (under the center of the door) I jack at that center point to lift the whole side of the car at once. Then I place two jack stands at the flat frame member infront and behind the jack about 4 feet apart. Slowely lower the car onto the stands checking as you go.
Hi,
If you look in the service manual or owners manual it will show where the jack points are.
Also, when I jack my 1977 up I unlatch the doors and loosen the t-top clamps.
So far I have had no issues. This also worked on my 1969.
