    '61 Air Hose

Does anyone know of a source for a decently constructed air hose for the solid axle cars? I've replaced mine at least twice. It seems they tear so easily, particularly when working near the battery compartment.

    Re: '61 Air Hose

Ace Rubber in Ohio used to make a cloth-rubber air hose that was distributed by JC Whitney of Chicago. That hose was IDENTICAL to the production GM hoses used at St. Louis in C1 years. Most NCRS judges unfortunately deduct points when they see one because we've all been conditioned to expect the standard reproduction hoses. (which are supplied 8 to 10 inches too long).

These reproduction hoses are flimsy indeed and usually last less than a year. Ace has discontinued the very durable cloth version in favor of all rubber. Larry Richter prepared a fine article that recently appeared in Restorer with photographs of three styles of production hoses.
