Some guys posted that this size tire would fit in the spare tire well of my '58. But the guys at the tire stores I've been to look at me like I'm nuts. The closest I've found is 185R65/15, which is considerably shorter. Any ideas, or should I just go with the 65?

Re: Where to buy 185R75/15 tire?
Coker sells them. $158 for a Michelin XAS blackwall. I've got 2 of them. One of them is for the spare in my 1962. I'll sell you the other. Contact me privately. That's the only size that will fit in there with the plywood fitting flush to the floor.
The 65 series will not fit. You might consider a later model GM "space saver" tire.- Top

Thanks, Chris. Wouldn't you kow it? Even buying a spare tire is a big production! I walked into the Firestone dealer figuring I'd buy one of those $25 specials, but no-ooo!
Even though I know I've done this before, I can't figure out how to get your e-mail address. Might be that my Netscape is a little long in the tooth. Anyway, could you please e-mail me at fresh38@pacbell.net. Thanks!- Top
