67 Master Cylinder

How difficult is it to replace a 67 non-power master cylinder?
Also, did any 67 master cylinders not have the two bleeder screws?
There are pictures in Noland Adams book that show 67 engine compartments with master cylinders without bleeder screws. Are these replacement master cylinders or did they come that way on early 67s? Thanks.

It is not very difficult to replace the master cylinder. Simply remove the brake lines, then remove the 2 nuts which secure the master cylinder to the firewall bolts.

As far as I know, ALL 1967 master cylinders were equipped with 2 bleeder valves. In PRODUCTION, from about 1973 onward, the bleeders were deleted. Also, most master cylinders sold to SERVICE 67+ Corvettes after about 1973 were of the non-bleeder valve type.

As Joe states, simple to remove and repair. If the bore of your MC is clean and pit free it is a very simple rebuild.

Don't forget to bleed

the system when you are done installing the M/C.

Joe, I have a 67 M/C with the correct casting # (I forget the number right now) and it does not have the bleeder screws. Does that mean its a service replacement, a repo or what?
