Does anyone know where I can get my 82 converted to right hand drive in the US?

Re: Right Hand Drive Conversion
Agree with John about Australia and lack of conversion folks in the US. Personally, it pains me to see a beautiful factory original LH drive car "chopped" because somebody's legislative body delights in passing retroactive law. Why is it Australia insists on putting square pegs in round holes when other RH drive nations (Great Britian, New Zealand, Malaysisa, Bahamas) allow mixed RH/LH drive vehicles on their roads as we and most other LH drive contries do?
If you've never seen one of Zora's treasures with its firewall bored, its dash wacked-flipped-spliced and a georgeous Opel rack & pinion steering system hacked in, take a trip down under! I keep questioning what we'd do if/when Australia should petition for NCRS Chapter status like the UK has done. Personally, I'd find it hard to participate in Flight Judging on cars so radically modified....- Top

Re: Right Hand Drive Conversion
I remember in the early 80's that a corvette dealer here in the UK offered a RHD conversion. This dealer had to bring in a guy from Australia to do the conversions. I suspect that that's the only place in the world that you will find the know how. From what I remember the use of a RHD Australian F*RD full size sedan steering box was required. Another vette garage that I knew worked on a car with the RHD conversion. I remember the mechanics were not over impressed with the engineering of the conversion. I think it also requires extensive modifications to the firewall not to mention cutting up of your dash. I have heard of other RHD conversions carried out on american cars that use a chain drive from the RHD steering column across the engine bay to link up to the original steering box. I dont think this method applies to vettes though. Either way it's a very extensive conversion.
I can give you the Email address of the dealer who offered the conversions here in the UK if you contact me directly. He is very involved with vettes and may be able to help you.
