    67 horn button

Having checked the archives without success, perhaps someone can clarify which pattern on the horn button checkered flag is correct. The Judging Manual for 67 states that the upper square in the flag should be black. The repro from Trim Parts is black. However, having checked four cars that presumbably are very original, I am finding that their horn buttoms have an upper white square. Also, the GM NOS button #3899365 has a white square. Which is correct? Might it vary by vehicle production date?

    Re: 67 horn button

James - In 25 words or less, stick with what you have if you think it's the original for your car. I have every reason to believe the one on my car, S/N 1476, is the original and it has the white upper corner square. I also have checked out numerous "original" cars and found the white upper corner. My read is that they had two suppliers and the guy who did the manual had a horn button with the black upper corner. You know how that is, i.e. mine's black and all cars must be like mine and once it's said "like the red queen says' "it must be so." That's from Alice in Corvette Wonderland. Pete

I havent seen the recent reproductions, but you could tell the difference betweeen the originals and the GM replacements by the shape of the bracket on the underside of the button. Many were replaced over the years even on otherwise very original cars. I have however seen examples of both types with the original style brackets. This leaves me to believe that both types were used by the factory.

My 67, with Ser. No. 5439, has the original horn button and it has the white upper corner.
