    1964 A/C fan blade

I am still trying to locate an original 7 blade fan, I have found an Ebay listing labeled GM part number 3931002, but my AIM says it should be p/n 5853943
Does anyone know the correct part number from their original car and what distinguishes repo from original? Thanks guys.

    Re: 1964-'65 A/C fan blade

Dino --- Don't know what the repros look like, but the GM drawing is in Noland's Vol 2, page 218, part # 3853943. [Imagine the pointed tips bent forward] If it shows up in your '64 AIM as 5833943 (as it does in my '65 AIM), then that is a print error. In my GM Corvette parts book (Jan '70), it is described as '64-'66 w/C.A.C (1st design) 18" dia, 7 blades. If absolutely necessary, I'll unbolt my original from the motor and fan clutch to see if there are any other distinguishing marks.

      Re: 1964 A/C fan blade

Dino - Please double check but the P/N should be 3853943 and it was used on '64s and '65s w/C60. There are two fan blades listed in the '66 AIM for the '66 small blocks w/ C60 and both are 18" dia fans with 5 blades.

P/N 3853943 has 7 blades and is 18" dia. The rivets have flat button heads and the front of the support has an "H" and a "6" (or "9") stamped in the center where the holes are for the fan clutch. In addition, there is a "W" stamped on the back of the support on the triangular part that attaches to the blade. Hope this helps. Pete

        Re: 1964 A/C fan blade

Pete / Dino --- The '65 AIM says "rivets used on all fans have flat button heads rather than mushroom heads used in earlier years" which I suppose refers to '64 and earlier. The 7-blade fan I bought at Bloomington in the late '80's, which I was told was from a '64 air car, has the potentially poisonous rivet heads, but I don't feel too bad as I put it on my early (014xx) '65.
