Parking Light Lenses on a 1971 Corvette
I need help. I have a late 1971 Corvette with amber parking light lenses. Build date L07 (July 7, 1971). The black book states that late cars had amber parking light lenses. The judging manual states that all '71s had clear lenses with amber bulbs. Which is correct????- Top

Re: Parking Light Lenses on a 1971 Corvette
Frank,
You know my position. In fact, the Black Book used to say that only very early 1971's had clear lenses until I showed Mike Antonick the judging manual and discussed my own personal observations with him. I think he's still hedging with the current revision.
I'm still waiting for a documented original installation of amber lenses in a 1971 Corvette. And, I'd be happy to see the car! Swapping lenses to look like the "latest" year Corvette was not uncommon. After all, from 50 feet away there isn't much other way to tell a 71 and a 72 apart.
I hope I didn't throw you for a loop by asking you about your own car in my e-mail!
