I recently spoke to a fellow corvetter on the subject of early '63 parts. He informed me that the first 100 or so 63's had chrome inside door pulls and he had a few which he showed me. These knobs were chrome and about the same size or a little bit larger than the black ones. The face was flat and imprinted with the words "Chevrolet Corvette" (not exactly sure) similar to a wheel cover spinner on solid axle cars (not sure if it had crossed flags). At that time I didn't pay much attention but after thinking about it, could it be possible that these door pulls were different, as the production run changed so much in early '63.

Re: Early '63 Door Pulls
I've not heard this one before. A check of the pilot line cars out there could give a clue. If they just have black plastic balls, then the story is doubtful IMO.
How would you say the part was manufactured - die cast, machined? How was the "Chevrolet Corvette" wording applied - part of the mold, machined, a decal?

Duke:
I think the knob was die cast & the wording would have been part of the casting process. I will be paying him a visit in a few days & i'll take a better look this time. I'll post more info at that time.
