    SCREWS FOR ROCKER MOLDINGS

When I had my car judged the judge stated the rocker moldings should be attached with four 1/4" hex head screws. I have tried LICS and Paragon and they both sent black phosphate phillip head screws with captured washers. That is what appears to have held mine on originally since I had eight of them in a bag but the label has fallen off. The screw is part number 9421851 and is shown in the AIM on UPS 1 ASM sheet F4. Does anyone have a source for these screws? Any help would be appreciated.

    Robert-----

The GM #9421851 screws were discontinued more than 20 years ago. However, they were replaced by GM #3848539 which are still available from GM. Unfortunately, most of GM's standard hardware has skyrocketted in price and these screws currently list for $3.50/each.

I don't know how these screws differ from the originals, but I am quite confident that they will SERVICE the application.

Thanks Joe. I will order eight and see what I get. Thought they maybe a carryover from previous years and were changed to what I am getting as reproduction in late 66 or 67 but that doesn't seem to be true with the AIM revisions.

Don't know what difference there is in the rocker molding screws between the 66-67 years and my 70, but about 15 or so years ago I bought from GM new rocker pieces for my 70 and new screws. I think the new screws came attached with each new rocker. However the head of the new screws are larger than the original screws.

If you are talking '66-7 the correct screws are...

Black Phos, phillips pan head with an integral washer (one piece, collar, not captured). They look somethimg like the World War I "Doughboy" helmets.

Re: If you are talking '66-7 the correct screws ar

Mike - Thanks for the response. That is what I had on it and what came off it and what Paragon and LICS sold me recently. I incorrectly called them captured they are as described. I have now ordered the service replacements that Joe was nice enough to provide the part number for but believe they also will be "incorrect". The manual says hex head and had points taken off at Orlando for non original attachment screws. Gets a little frustrating.
