    70 x-tank date?

Could there be a 70 expansion tank with a 70M date? I thought 70 date codes started with "A" for January. According to my finger count(with 2 toes), that would make "L" the December letter. But I think I remember there not being "I". Why no "I"?

    Because it's aluminum alloy!

None of the aluminum/aluminum alloy components used by GM incorporated an "I" in the date stamps. (unless somebody's changed the rules again)

          Date codes

It's my understanding that the letter "I" was usually not used for parts with the typical GM alpha-numeric date coding because it's too easy to confuse with the numeric "1".
