    Need NON NCRS Help

Have any of you C2 owners, past or present, successfully hidden an MSD amplifier box on your Mid Year?
I see only two possibilities :
    1. behind the glovebox and I think that there is not enough space a
    2. it was my intent to mount it to the right side small splash shield between the body and the frame , (hidden by the battery tray and battery)
It appears that the interference between the tray and the MSD is too great to overcome in a manner that does not require some extensive tray mount modifications. I would greatly appreciate the benefit of your experiences

How big is the MSD box? I stuffed a 4.5x6x1.25 cruise control box under the heater duct behind the radio. The frame has tapped bolt holes on both sides for a battery box like the BB with A-C cars use. I mounted an alarm system to a bracket bolted there on the RH side for my alarm system. To save time, try a Pertronix. It works for me.

      Jerry,

The splash shield worked very well for my friend's 67, so I don't see why it wouldn't for yours. I'll try to remember to send you his e-mail address so that you can contact him. If you don't get a note from me in the next 1-2 days, send me a reminder. I'm at work now and not near my e-mail.

I successfully mounted mine vertically on the radiator support panel to the left of the radiator and A/C condensor on my 67 big block coupe. It fits nicely and is not visible from the engine compartment. I did have to make a custom wiring harness for the unit but am glad that I went to the trouble to do this. I would offer to send you a picture but would probably have to remove the hood to get a decent photo of the installation.

Not hidden but out of the way. My car has one mounted above the battery on the inside for the fender skirt. It is up under close to the under side of the fender, not real visible, but the wiring gives it away going over the heater motor across the firewall to the distributor from the right side. I am now working to get the original system working. Any Distributors out there for a Nov 67 TI car (alternator, horn rely??). Thanks Joel

A Pertronixs is not an ignition system like the MSD 6A or any MSD box for that matter. It is a replacement for a set of points, just like a Mallory UNI-Lite.

There are two models, the older style that you must remove the distributor to install and the newer unit that is a drop in for the points. I have done both, and I would stick with the points and an MSD. The newer unit suffers from prolonged cranking before the motor fires. You can't use a conventional distributor machine to set up the curve like you can with the Mallory UNILite.

Try hiding a MSD on a 60, not nearly as many places to put it and stay inside the wiring lengths supplied with the unit.

A Mallory UNIlite and a MSD are nearly bullet proof. I used one in a 73 L-82 car for 107K before some dumb a$$ tore the whole front off the car.
