I'm in the process of installing seatbelts in a 66, my problem is the two outer retractors require mounting studs which I'll have to order. The inside belts/clips have a stud already mounted in the car and just need nuts to install. Is this correct?? I thought they all were mounted by installing studs. Could this be a safety issue?? Is there a possibility that some work has been done before in this area that I need to look at closer or is everything OK? Thanks in advance for any help...Rich

Adding on....
Inside studs come from plates riveted to the underside of the body fiberglass. There was ALSO a rubber coated wire rope that joined the RH and LH inner belt mounting plates and snaked through a clip on the frame (you can see it in the AIM). If you don't have this piece (wire rope through frame), go forget about using any seat belts!
In the event of a crash, there's a HIGH probablity the inner belt will simply 'suck' the mounting plate through the body fiberglass and fail to hold! So, make sure the wire rope routed through the frame cross member is there and intact....- Top
