Shock dilema for my '67, Joe Lucia, are you there

I have searched the archives for shock info and have read some good feedback on the Delco's which Joe has provided part numbers for. I just saw in ZIP's catalog a Delco shock package for around $100. They are advertised as Delco Road Response and not the Reactec shocks carrying the 560 series number.
So I called and he said that Reactecs were discontinued yet the local Chevy dealer has them for $60 each, ouch! Zip said the GM part number on the Responses was 5304, which as we know is not long enough for a GM P/N. Any idea what the road response shocks are and how they compare to the Reactecs?

    Thanks in advance everyone.

At least ZIP has changed their web site to reflect that the Reactec are no longer available. I ordered Reactecs from them (for $100) and got the road reponse shocks instead. I called and got the same message as you.

The Road Respose shocks, when compared side by side to my original shocks, have a slightly bigger diameter. They resemble the originals only. Check the juding manual to see what sort of a point hit you will take for Delco replacement shocks. I think the point deduction will be easier to swallow than $240 Reactec shocks.

I don't know very much about the Delco "Road Response" shock absorbers. They may be better or they may be worse than the "Reactec" shocks. The fact that they're considerably less expensive than the Reactec line makes me strongly suspect that it's a case of the latter rather than the former.

In any event, I do know that the Reactec shocks are NOT discontinued. They are available under GM #22065208, front, and GM #22065207, rear. They are also known as Delco #560-50 and 560-51, respectively. The current GM list price for the shocks is $60.38/each. However, these shocks should be available through Delco dealers for about $40/each. They're not the "$99 per set" shocks like they used to be, but they're still a great value. Plus, their configuration is virtually identical to the original shocks. I think that GM figured out that they were under-priced at their former selling price. And, if so, they were right.
