Installed new/rebuilt tach. It is reading 600RPM to high. Can I change the pully or drive gear ratio at the generator? Anyone know who specializes in the 5x - 61 generator tach drives?
Re: Gen tach drive gears - can the ratio be change
Are you sure you have the correct pulley? A small pulley on a SHP engine will cause a too high reading. There are no factory alternate gearings available for the generator drive, but pulley size changes will give the same effect to a point
Thanks for the reply. I have what looks to be about a 3 1/2" pulley on there now. I have another one that looks to be about 3 3/4" and I will try it. Do they make them bigger or are there just 2 sizes?
