    Original tires for 67'-2 questions

We are looking for a set of original tires for a 67' convertible. The car has 33k documented original unrestored miles on the car, and the spare tire has never been out of the car. Upon inspection of the spare, it looks to be a very original never used Uniroyal Laredo white wall, size 7.75-15. The original invoice shows that 7.75-15 W/W were on the car originally.

    I have two questions.

    1. Can someone confirm that Uniroyal Laredo white walls were actually used from the plant in 67?
    2. What would be the value of a original set of 5 of the same tire? (I know this is subjective questions, but feedback would be appreciated.)

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,

-----Yes,Laredos were positively an available tire in 67.Wether your spare was on that wheel or not,I cant guarantee but it certainly seems very possible.
-----Original tires go for alot of money. With that said,Laredos probably have the least desireability of all the tires delivered during the 67 model year(Firestones being the most,go figure),so concievably would be the cheapest of original tires to procure.Your wallet is still going to suffer withdrawls though.I think Ill let another poster give you a figure,as I dont want you to hold it against me!
-----Some of my Chicago buddies will confirm that there is a 66 Nassau blue roadster that belonged to a wonderful friend and one of the great early members of NCRS,Carl Strohm, that had two Firestone goldlines and 2 Goodyear goldlines on it as delivered new.Dont know what the spare was...........Bill S

Bill, thank you very much for the response and confirmation. The original owner said she replaced the tires within buying the car after only a month, she said the Uniroyals drove horribly. Interesting, huh? I am already over the sticker shock for the 5 originals, whew!!! I just wanted to confirm it before I go and make an offer.

            Thanks again,
            Rob

clem, thanks for the response. I'll let you know if I need the number, that is a nice offer though. It reassures me that what this other person asking for his 5 originals is very resonable. But, it sounds like the Uniroyal white walls are not as popular the redlines.

Sounds like you have a very nice corvette.

I was able to find a set of four Laredo ww on the correct rally wheels last year at Carlyle. $2000 including shipping home. Found the 5th tire and wheel on eBay about one month later for less than $200. All of these tires were probably previous spares as they are in excellent condition with the production ink markings and paper stickers on the inside side wall still present.

They are out there. Like others have posted, red lines are big, there is not much demand for the Laredo ww.

                        Good Luck.

                        Gary
